Wellawatta Outdoor Bazaar

Ally
roofs of sackcloth
pregnant
with rain that
drenches
hawkers, their hair plastered to
skin
shows through thin cotton
drips
on cane baskets of fruit and
beans
glisten with drops
Silver
fish gritty with sand from the bottom of the
sea
gray and troubled.
