Braids

by Krisha Wignarajah

Amappa's Eyes

I
March time river.
Couldn't tell
whether jade or black — like your eyes.
Hiding leaves of last fall
beneath its flow
and styrofoam of summers
floating, receding into hazy past.

II
Snow
dewy with spring
lightly crusts over
the jade or black river
like your cataracts.
