HUMMINGBIRDS

A POEM FOR MARGARET

we raced on the lawn
in our motor boat
so fast no one saw us

we hitched to a music festival
my gypsy dress flaring out
plastic guitar
strapped on my back

childhood is a swirling
dancing dream

I can still hear
the music
